Below you will first find some links to internet sites with copyright-free pictures. Further down are Don Pedro's free pictures, these are also copyright-free. In general you must be careful when taking pictures from a website and then using them on your own site as "decoration". If you take a small picture and use it as reference or link to the site it comes from, I don't think that site owner would make very much noise. On the other hand, the proper and polite way would be to inform the other site owner / webmaster about what you have done with his/her picture.

Books in 28 languages, including such as and Sanskrit. When you take a picture on the net, be very careful when there is no copyright note. How to Choose and Use the Pictures

When you put your mouse arrow on top of a picture on this page you will get a yellow "pop-up" rectangle giving you "Picture description and file size: xx KB". This is for your convenience only, in case you are restricted to use a very small ( file size ) picture. Both physical size (... x ... pix.) and file size (KB) is different for each picture. The file size therefore makes difference in download / display time when you put the picture(s) on your page(s). On the internet you check a picture's physical size by putting your mouse arrow on the picture, give a "right-hand-click" and --> "Properties".

How to copy a picture:

Most browsers: you put your mouse arrow on the picture you want, give a "right-hand-click" and choose "Save picture as ...".
Mac users: follow your browser's instructions.
AOL browsers: switch off picture file compressing function first, then follow "Most browsers".

All pictures are interlaced GIF format with transparent background or progressive JPG.
